The Training Process:
Now that you have the manual, you need to use it. Every new employee should receive training based on the manual.
I break down the training into three phases:
Phase 1: Theory. The first few days are spent learning the manual. Reading. Watching videos. Asking questions. They're not behind the counter yet. They're absorbing the information.
Phase 2: Practice. The next few days are spent practicing. They're behind the counter with a supervisor watching them. They're making drinks, handling food, serving customers. The supervisor is giving real-time feedback. They're learning the flow.
Phase 3: Certification. The final step is a practical assessment. They make drinks, they serve customers, they handle a complaint. If they pass, they're certified. If they fail, they repeat phase 2.
This process takes about two weeks. And it's worth every minute. Because by the end of it, you have a confident, competent employee who can work independently.
