Benny the Brave Badger's Big Adventure 6 / 11
Chapter 5: A Splashy Encounter

Meeting Wally the Wise Frog
Benny the Brave Badger was on a grand adventure, exploring the lush green woods near his home. One sunny afternoon, as he wandered along a sparkling stream, he heard a soft croak that made him stop in his tracks. Curiosity danced in his eyes as he looked around, trying to find the source of the sound. To his delight, sitting on a lilypad was Wally the Wise Frog, with his big, friendly eyes and a smile that could light up the entire pond.
Wally was not like any other frog Benny had met. He wore tiny round glasses perched on his nose, and his skin shimmered in the sunlight like emeralds. "Hello there, young badger!" Wally greeted warmly, "What brings you to my little corner of the world?" Benny felt a surge of excitement as he replied, "I’m on an adventure to discover new friends and stories!" Wally chuckled, his voice smooth like the flowing water, "Well, you’ve come to the right place, my friend! I have tales that will tickle your imagination."
As they chatted, Benny listened intently to Wally's stories about the creatures of the woods. Wally spoke of the clever little squirrels who could outsmart the wind and the wise old owl who knew all the secrets of the forest. Benny’s eyes widened with wonder as he imagined each animal, their unique traits, and the adventures they had. He realised that every creature had a story worth telling, just like his own.
"But Benny, remember," Wally said, leaning closer, "adventures are not just about where you go but also about who you meet along the way." Benny nodded, understanding that friendships made every journey special. They spent the afternoon sharing laughter and dreams, with Wally giving Benny advice on bravery and kindness, two qualities that made a true adventurer.
As the sun began to set, painting the sky in shades of orange and pink, Benny knew it was time to head home. He waved goodbye to Wally, promising to return for more stories. With a heart full of joy and a mind buzzing with new ideas, Benny bounced back through the woods, excited for the adventures that lay ahead, knowing he had a wise friend waiting by the pond.
The Riddle of the River
Benny the Brave Badger stood at the edge of the shimmering river, his heart racing with excitement. The water sparkled under the warm sun, and he could hear the gentle gurgling sound as it flowed over smooth stones. Benny had heard tales from his friends about a magical riddle hidden within the river, and today, he was determined to solve it. With a deep breath, he took a step closer, ready for an adventure like no other.
As Benny gazed into the clear water, he noticed something glimmering beneath the surface. It was a shiny, golden pebble, and beside it floated a piece of parchment. Curiosity sparked in Benny's eyes as he reached in and retrieved the parchment, which unfolded to reveal a riddle written in flowing script. "I dance on the waves and sing with the breeze, what am I?" it read. Benny's mind raced as he tried to think of the answer.
Benny pondered the riddle, recalling the times he had watched the river. He remembered how the leaves would twirl and spin in the wind, creating a beautiful dance. "Could it be the leaves?" he thought. But then he remembered the sound of the water, flowing with such joy and freedom. "No, it must be something else," he muttered to himself, tapping his paw against his chin.
Just then, Benny heard a soft voice behind him. It was Lily the Lively Lark, a cheerful bird who loved to sing. "What’s troubling you, Benny?" she chirped, landing beside him. Benny excitedly shared the riddle with her. Lily thought for a moment and then flapped her wings in delight. "I know the answer! It’s the river itself! It dances and sings as it flows!" she exclaimed.
With a joyful heart, Benny shouted, "The river! That’s it!" He felt a sense of accomplishment wash over him. Together, they shouted the answer to the river, and suddenly, the water sparkled even brighter. A gentle breeze swirled around them, and Benny knew that he had not only solved the riddle but also made a wonderful friend along the way. The river held secrets and adventures, and Benny was ready for whatever came next!
