Benny the Brave Badger's Big Adventure 7 / 11
Chapter 6: Climbing the Rocky Heights

Benny's Fear of Heights
Benny the brave badger was known for his adventurous spirit, but there was one thing that made him tremble with fear: heights. Every time he looked up at the tall trees or the steep hills, his heart would race and his paws would shake. Benny wished he could be as brave with heights as he was in every other part of his life, but the thought of climbing high made him feel small and scared.
One sunny day, Benny's friends decided to have a picnic at the top of Willow Hill, the tallest hill in the forest. Benny was excited to join them, but when he saw the steep path leading up, his tummy felt like it was doing somersaults. "What if I fall?" he thought, his little heart thumping loudly. His friends encouraged him, saying, "Benny, you can do it! We'll be right there with you!"
Taking a deep breath, Benny started up the hill, his friends trotting beside him. With every step, he felt a little braver, but when they reached the halfway point, Benny looked down and gasped. The ground seemed so far away! His legs wobbled, and he wanted to turn back, but his friends cheered him on, reminding him of all the fun waiting at the top.
With a determined nod, Benny took another step, focusing on the sound of his friends' laughter rather than the height. "Just a bit further, Benny!" they shouted. Slowly but surely, Benny found his rhythm, and before he knew it, he was at the top of the hill, panting but proud. The view was breathtaking, and Benny couldn’t believe he had made it!
From that day on, Benny learned that sometimes, facing your fears can lead to the most wonderful adventures. He realised that with the support of his friends, he could conquer anything, even his fear of heights. Benny the brave badger smiled wide, knowing that he was not just brave in the forest, but also on top of the tallest hill, ready for whatever came next!
A Helping Hand from Polly the Parrot
Benny the Brave Badger was wandering through the lush green forest when he stumbled upon Polly the Parrot, who was perched high on a branch. Polly had bright feathers that shimmered in the sunlight, and she was known for her cheerful chatter. "Hello there, Benny! What are you up to today?" she squawked, flapping her wings excitedly. Benny looked up, feeling a bit lost, and replied, "I’m trying to find my way to the Great Oak Tree, but I think I might be going in circles!"
Polly tilted her head thoughtfully and said, "I can help you with that! From up here, I can see the entire forest. Just follow my voice!" Benny felt a surge of hope as he listened to Polly’s sweet tones guiding him. With each step, he felt a little braver, knowing that his feathered friend was watching over him from above.
As they journeyed together, Polly shared stories about the different animals they passed. "Look over there! That’s Larry the Lizard sunbathing on the rock! And see those rabbits? They’re always hopping about looking for adventure too!" Benny giggled at the thought of all the creatures in the forest having their own little escapades, feeling reassured that he wasn’t alone on his journey.
After a while, they reached a narrow stream that Benny hesitated to cross. The water sparkled, but it looked a bit too deep for his little legs. Polly, sensing his fear, called out, "Just take a deep breath, Benny! You can do it! I’ll be right here, cheering you on!" With Polly’s encouragement, Benny took a leap and splashed across the stream, landing safely on the other side. He couldn’t believe how brave he had been!
Finally, they spotted the Great Oak Tree in the distance, its majestic branches reaching towards the sky. Benny felt a sense of accomplishment wash over him. "Thank you so much, Polly! I couldn’t have done it without your help!" he exclaimed, smiling from ear to ear. Polly flapped her wings proudly, knowing she had played a part in Benny’s big adventure. Together, they had proven that sometimes, all you need is a helping hand from a friend to find your way!
